Somatic Circuits -6wk course- Fri 9.45am

Service Description

6 week course in SOMATIC CIRCUITS!! It starts on Friday 31st October at 9:45-10:45am and runs for 6 weeks up at The K.I.T.E. Centre in Lochussie (nr Dingwall). (Last session 5th December) On the face of it, it looks like any normal circuit training, there are a number of 'stations' you spend a couple of minutes doing the activity at that station, before moving onto the next station. However, in somatic circuits we oscillate between physical body, brain and somatic exercises (somatic being where the body and mind meet). This allows recovery between the more physical activities, but a chance to increase the resilience and flexibility of the nervous system and increase our body awareness. It's also so good for us to do novel exercises and perhaps add a little silliness into life too. Example stations will be: bicep curls; punchbag; breathing control; somatic shaking; whirling dervish.... It is designed to help you to feel fitter now, but also to be healthier and fitter in years to come (good physical and mental fitness is know to protect immune function, slow down cognitive decline, improve emotional regulation, give more energy, help protect against osteoporosis, help in healthy weight reduction, help in the management of pain and chronic illness, reduce recover time from illness and injury, reduces stress.. the list goes on) So I invite you to join me in this pioneering project and see if it makes a difference to your health. It is open to men and women of all ages (18+) and levels of fitness to come and join me in this project for full body fitness. The cost of this course is a £45 for the entire Physiotherapist/Somatic Counsellor-led course. I have tried to keep the price as low as possible, but this does mean that there will be a minimum number of attendees to run. For the sessions, you will need to wear trainers or bare feet and clothing you can move in and that won't get in your way. Please also bring a drink. Please get in touch with any questions.
